Add Wi-Fi Connectivity to Existing RS485 Devices
The Enertrek C20 adds Wi-Fi communication to existing Modbus RTU devices, including electricity meters, circuit breakers, I/O modules, PLCs and controllers. It helps upgrade the communication capability of existing equipment without replacing the original field devices.
Keep the Original Modbus Structure
The C20 works in Modbus RTU transparent transmission mode by default. It forwards commands from the platform to downstream devices through RS485 and returns the response data without changing the original communication structure.
This makes it suitable for retrofit projects and systems that already use Modbus RTU devices.
Connect Multiple Field Devices to One Platform
One C20 can connect up to 32 Modbus slave devices through the RS485 bus. The module communicates with the platform through Wi-Fi and supports MQTT server, publish topic and subscribe topic configuration.
This enables remote meter reading, device status monitoring and Modbus-based control through an existing platform or server.
Simplify Installation and Commissioning
The C20 is designed for installation inside control cabinets and equipment enclosures. Its external Wi-Fi antenna provides more flexibility when the module is installed in a metal cabinet.
RS485 parameters can be configured through a PC tool, with baud rates from 1,200 to 115,200 bps. Network and RS485 status indicators also help technicians check the communication condition during commissioning.
Support Long-Term Remote Maintenance
The C20 supports remote Modbus communication and OTA firmware updates. After deployment, users can continue to read data, send control commands and maintain the communication module remotely through the connected platform.
For projects that require structured data rather than raw Modbus messages, polling data acquisition can also be configured according to the downstream device registers and confirmed software requirements.
Optional Polling Mode
In addition to transparent transmission, polling data acquisition can be configured for specific projects. The C20 can periodically read selected registers from downstream devices and upload structured data such as voltage, current, power, energy, temperature, switch status and alarm status.
Polling mode requires confirmation of the device protocol, register mapping, data format, scaling factors, units and upload interval before implementation.
